Dragon Heart.... Re: Nodes

.,... I've thought of some things that may help in our study of the Nodes. I find them useful when looking at my chart, and I'm hoping you will, too. We've already taken note of the Nodes' relation to the Moon, as well as the status of the planets that rule our Node Signs. We should explore that more; but besides that, you might like to try the following when interpreting the Nodes:
1) Consider the nature of the Node Signs: Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable? Elman Bacher(spelling?) terms them Being-ness, Love and Wisdom Signs respectively.
That makes the Cardinal Signs Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn "Being-ness" Signs. Dory, you have Cancer-Capricorn Nodes; I'm wondering what this means to you... some unresolved identity issues, probably, such as the very foundation of your character? Share your thoughts with us!
The Fixed Signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius are therefore Love Signs. I guess "Love" is used in a broad sense here. Security, stability, sense of pleasure, capacity for generosity and devotion, self-satisfaction, (As you know, these qualities are associated with the said signs.) Rita, Eva, Cos and Lunar-Man have Fixed/Love Nodes. Have you contemplated that? Can it mean a strong conviction or preference you have, that needs some stretching?
The Mutable Signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces are the Wisdom Signs. I have Mutable/Wisdom Nodes: Virgo-Pisces. I've thought about this. What I've noticed is that the refining of Dragon Heart's character--i.e. the activities of SN & NN--are concerned chiefly with reshaping my outlook towards life. There's a necessity to adjust the frame of thinking. That has something to do with wisdom and judgment, doesn't it? Any ideas, anyone?... Let's cast some pebbles into the pond, and see what happens!
*************************************************
2) Relate our Asc, Moon and Sun Signs with that of the Nodes. These 3 are the Body, Soul & Spirit- the trinity of the personality. If we do so, we will see how our karmic goals fit into our image and personality. The more harmonious the relation is, the easier it will be for us to evolve karmically....
I'd like your feedback on these, fellow students of the stars. When we take into account the nature of the signs, we gain extra insight with regards to the aspects/planets being analyzed. If this proves useful here, maybe we should try the elements (fire, air, water & earth) next time. It's really good to learn together, as I've never had an astrology teacher. I'll be watching out for your posts with "the Eyes of the Dragon" to borrow from Stephen King. :-)
P.S. Beautiful how the Cosmic Consciousness matures through the Signs: Being-ness/Self, to Love, to Wisdom; from Life...to Love...to Light. So much for this.

- DRAGON HEART.........you tempt me back to study the fluff in the navel again. Intruiged by your commentary above. Asc and moon in fire, sun in water. NN in water. Here is how I would take what you say and apply it: Contemplation of my inner self blends well with the manifestation of my sun energy. Scorpio prefers to hide this behind closed doors. How well disguised am I, with my fiery moon and asc, radiating and putting on a show for the world, while the inner brooding and probing goes on. But these two aspects sit uneasily together, the inner secretive personna aghast when new discoveries are yanked gleefully by the other pair and tossed into the public arena for all to see. To protect, the sun retreats to the furthest darkest hideyhole and lets the inspirational twosome perform their double act. Thus the inner can be left in piece to sift and sort the debris of her psyche in peace. However, she must beware the stirring of muddy waters, for that alerts the children of the flame to anticipate more fun and games as they dive in to scoop what they can from the rising silt and broadcast it to the nation. No matter how securely locked away the sun keeps emerging self awareness so that it can examine in minute detail, inevitably it is pulled loose by the combined energies of the other two. The asc adopts new self awareness into the projected personality, fixes it good and tight, no matter how it might conflict with what is already there. And the moon tries new emotions on for fit, playing out a confusing arrays of roles in the domestic sphere, true to its mutable nature.
Well now, I cant say for sure how real all the above is, cos I kind of just got carried away on an intuitive flow and the words wrote themselves. But this may have been an example of my NN going about its business in relation to my karmic quest to find myself. I would like to sum up the ethos of my NN thus: no crevice of the navel left unpicked

- We had a discussion going on the subject of nodes before the big melt down, like you Rita I have a fire asc/moon, water sun , nn in Pisces in the 8th which has involved me over and over again with death, not in a negative way but in a way of being helpful to those experiencing it, not something I have sought but which has come into my life over the years in the beginning did not accept or understand at all, but have come to think it is something I am meant to do and to be of service in this arena. NN makes a trine to conj Merc/Pluto in the 12th which definitely says karmic situation to me.The trine to Merc. suggests transformation of mental thoughts and attitudes and to Pluto the elevation of consciousness, and success in delving into the mysteries of life after death. I have come across a little book called "Lunar Nodes New Concepts" by Bernice Prill Grebner , found it gives information I have not found elsewhere. Good to see this discussion going on again.

- Have just come across an interesting book on nodes especially interesting to me was the info on Lunar Node return which occurs approx. every 18 years and can be a fulfillment or completion of a cycle. The opposistion at 9 years is a frustrating time but can also be the beginning of awareness from others and a need to see the other side. It is also a time when we realize our lessons can be learned and eventually fulfilled. The square of the transiting Nodes to the natal nodes is a time for action that may be initiated by problems. This can let the person see a different way of arriving at the destined growth and does not have to be considered as negative in any way. The Lunar node return cycle seems to indicate a stage where decisions are forced upon us with a new and still greater nodal development being possible. I think I'll do some backward progressions {I think that is an oxymoron] and see what I come up with.

- a little on NN conj Mars; assertiveness leads to growth, but the assertiveness can get out of hand and lead to quarrels. Ability to concentrate on whatever goal is represented ehances goal potential. a need for activity stimulates growth. So even combative mars can indicate positive growth. Just a guess mind you but it appears to me 4th,10th nodes might inidcate parent/child karma. You think? O K Rita, I'm waiting for my message.

- Well, since some of you have been speaking of Mars conjunct North Node and Nodal axis in Leo/Aqu, I thought I'd better 'fess up. Yep, got Mars (at 4^) and North Node (at 5^) in Leo. 'Tis the only personal Fire point in my natal chart, so I figure, it's pretty important (and it's part of a Yod with Mercury and Jup/Chiron apex).
But, there's an even closer conjunction of Saturn and the South Node in Aquarius (both at 5^) as the apex of another Yod with Ascendant (Can) and Uranus (Vir).
The transiting nodal axis is slowly approaching my MC/IC axis (probably just in time for a change of career and residence).
I believe that the significance of the transiting nodal axis is made apparent when a lunar or solar eclipse occurs on a personal point in the chart. The slow retrograde motion of the lunar nodes is punctuated by the energy release of the eclipses four times a year. Therefore, Solar contacts with the nodes (specifically conjunctions -- which can be of fairly large orb) are the most obvious energies to "see". All other planets in contact with the nodes (except the Moon, of course) would tend to be more potential than active. This potential could be released by conscious (or subconscious) focus during a transit or progressed transit.
A comment on the nodal cycle: It is interesting that (at least in most modern countries, I think) the age of 18 is considered the beginning of adulthood, nicely coinciding with the nodal cycle at 18.6 years. Is there another acknowledged beginning at age 37?

.... In my experience the conjunctions with the NN are and indicator of things that we'll learn from each other in this lifetime. For example: since the NN indicates where we are headed, a conjunction your partner's (or friend's, whatever) Sun with your NN will warmly highlight that direction. The NN conjunctions are not karma-ridden, convoluted gut wrenchers. Conjunctions with the SN usually are. These conjunctions will generally indicate a lot of past life stuff together that we have now decided to resolve. Since we don't want to look at the icky stuff we left in the closet in 1376 or in 204 BC, we tend to get into big hairy crises with these people. But first we feel drawn to them, because, afterall, they are old buddies...
